Hatton is a town in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. It is the base town for climbing Adam’s Peak (Sri Pada), the most sacred mountain in Sri Lanka. The summit bears a rock formation believed to be the footprint of the Buddha by Buddhists, Shiva by Hindus, Adam by Muslims, and St. Thomas by Christians. The pilgrimage season runs from December to May. Tea plantations, waterfalls (Devon Falls, St. Clair’s Falls), and Castlereagh Lake surround the town.
