Kalpitiya is a town in the North Western Province of Sri Lanka. It is situated on a peninsula between the Puttalam Lagoon and the Indian Ocean. Kalpitiya is known for its dolphin watching — pods of hundreds of spinner dolphins frequent the waters here. It is also Sri Lanka’s top kite surfing destination, with consistent winds from May to October. Wilpattu National Park, the largest national park in Sri Lanka, is nearby.
