Overview
Goyambokka Beach is a beautiful horseshoe cove approximately 4 kilometres east of Tangalle town, with calm, protected water and a modest level of beach tourism infrastructure that maintains the natural character of the location. The bay is protected by rocky headlands and in calm season the water is exceptionally clear — making it one of the better snorkelling locations in the Tangalle area, with reef fish, small turtles, and rocky marine habitats visible just offshore. The beach is home to a small number of quality guesthouses and beach restaurants that have developed in a relatively sensitive way, and the overall atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried. The combination of Goyambokka’s calm bay, good snorkelling, pleasant accommodation, and its position as a base for exploring the Tangalle area wildlife circuit makes it one of the best placed beaches in the Hambantota District.
