Devon Falls Viewpoints

Overview

Devon Falls is a magnificent single-drop waterfall of approximately 97 metres — one of the tallest in Sri Lanka — located in the tea estate landscape near Talawakele, not far from St. Clair’s Falls. Named after Devon Estate where it originates, the falls drop from a high cliff in a single clean column of white water into a rocky gorge below, framed on either side by the vivid green of the surrounding tea bushes and highland forest. The main road viewpoint offers an excellent unobstructed view of the complete falls from across the valley, and the visual drama of such a tall single drop through the middle of a working tea estate landscape is exceptional. The combination of Devon Falls and the adjacent St. Clair’s Falls — just a short drive apart — creates one of the finest waterfall excursions in Sri Lanka, accessible from either the Kandy or Nuwara Eliya side of the Highlands.
