Overview
Induruwa Beach is a long, serene stretch of coastline situated just north of Kosgoda, occupying a sweet spot between the busier resort towns of Bentota to the south and Hikkaduwa to the north. The beach is relatively quiet and underdeveloped compared to its neighbours, with a small selection of mid-range guesthouses and boutique resorts interspersed among the coconut palms along the shoreline. The sand is clean and golden, the sea is generally calm from November to April, and the atmosphere is unhurried and genuinely restful. Induruwa is a popular nesting site for sea turtles, and the beach’s relative tranquillity at night is one reason these ancient mariners still choose it for laying their eggs. The absence of large crowds and commercial infrastructure is Induruwa’s greatest appeal — it offers the same golden coast as the more famous beaches nearby, but with a calm that feels increasingly rare along Sri Lanka’s southwest shoreline.
